In summary:
HV members are to behave in a
positive and constructive manner at all times, obey server rules, participate with other HV's as
much as possible and make the group a fun experience for yourself and your fellow members. As
an HV member you will be answerable to House Vagoroth Founders HelplessTarget and Palantirion
and any superior officers within your branch.. You will also be expected
to respect the wisdom of senior members. HV
is for people who like teamwork, camaraderie, strategy and tactics without an overwhelming time commitment. Although there are a few specific
requirements listed below, this pretty much sums up the spirit of The House.
1) Participation:
Although House Vagoroth does not have mandatory meetings, team practices, etc.,
members are expected to regularly participate in HV sanctioned multiplayer
online games. This could be as often as every day to as little as a few
times a month. House Vagoroth knows that there is more to life than gaming
and really just wants to see members online often enough to know they are still
around and part of the group. Because of this relaxed participation
policy, House Vagoroth does not participate in tournaments, ladders, clan
matches etc. While our members are free to compete, our group as whole
will not do so. Participation can also take the form of posting on game
related forums, sharing scripts, soundpacks, maps and
other creations with group as a whole, hosting servers and anything else that
adds to the collective experience..
2) Chain of Command:
Their are currently 4 ranks within House Vagoroth. In descending order they
are:
Founder, Guardian, Protector and Disciple.
The names of these were chosen because we felt that they were different than the
traditional military type ranking and thus are suitable for a larger variety of games,
including fantasy role playing games.
The title of Founder is the highest ranking position within House Vagoroth, and is the only irrevocable and permanent position with the House.
As Founders of House Vagoroth, HelplessTarget (a.k.a. hvHelplessTarget a.k.a. hv H. Target a.k.a HT) and PALANTIRION (a.k.a. hvPALANTIRION a.k.a. PAL) reserve all rights to the name House Vagoroth, the "hv" tag and the Dragon, Sword and Shield Logo. Membership to House Vagoroth is subject to the continual approval of the Founders and can be approved or revoked at any time. The Founders also determine and approve all rules and policies of House Vagoroth, including, but not limited to, House Vagoroth's membership status within other gaming groups and Federations.
In addition to administrative duties, the Founders retain tactical and strategic command while in game. Either Founder is capable of answering questions, helping with technical difficulties, etc.
Guardians are essentially assistant managers, section chiefs, etc. in charge of helping the Founders to manager House Vagoroth affairs with respect to a single specific game. They take active roles in recruiting new members and providing support and assistance for their designated game. The leadership of Guardians is what allows House Vagoroth to branch out into many more games than the Founders actively participate in.
Protectors are a cross between a lieutenant and a mentor. Protectors are members who have consistently served the House above and beyond the call of duty, who are especially familiar with the will of their superiors and have demonstrated exemplary leadership. They act as field commanders in the absence of a superior officer and are also great sources of guidance. Protectors of House Vagoroth report directly to the Guardian(s) and Founders. They are experienced veterans and can provide additional leadership and support.
All other HV's are equal with
the rank of Disciple.
Although all Disciples are of equal rank, it is usually prudent to listen to and
respect the advice of more senior members who have been around longer. The
Disciple with the most seniority will act as the ranking field commander
for any online game in the absence of a superior officer.
3) HV Code of Conduct:
The following guidelines apply to all House Vagoroth members regardless of game, server, forum or environment:
| Thou shalt follow
server rules, respect admins and at all times conduct yourself in such a way
as to reflect positively on House Vagoroth.
| Occasional taunting of
the enemy is good practice, but do not spam, or use unnecessarily
insulting/harsh/obscene language. Likewise, an occasional boasting is
fun, but repetitive bragging is boorish and unacceptable. After all, if you
are wearing the hv tag you are good enough that you don't really need to
boast. | |
| Try to keep games as
even as possible. Do everything you can to ensure victory for your team,
but don't blow out the other team so badly that it empties the server. This
will uneven the teams and cause havoc with game play and often get you kicked
or evened banned from some servers. Don't switch teams to help the
winning team annihilate the losers or use cheats, exploits or repetitive cheap
tricks. | |
| Communicate with your
teammates, even when they are not HV players! Newbies are less likely to
know the ropes of the mod/game you are playing and can benefit from your example of
teamwork. Communication is the foundation of victory! With good communication and
good sportsmanship, you can positively influence the atmosphere of servers, and make
the game better for all.
| Try not to yell at or
berate stupid, newbie teammates. Obscenities, racial slurs and vile
remarks are never acceptable, no matter how much you are provoked, and are
grounds for immediate dismissal from House Vagoroth. If a teammate is
maliciously harming your team, respectfully point them out to a server admin,
and/or briefly and politely explain their behavior to global chat and
start a vote to kick them from the server.
| If you are entrusted with Admin powers,
use them wisely and courteously. It sets a great example when an Admin acts politely while
banning a cussing, ranting, screaming, TKing player. Your composure as an
Admin sets a strong example to the gaming community. Use this influence wisely.
| HV (and any federations or
organizations we belong to) are to present united fronts and not quarrel on
public servers or forums. We are a team and must act as one. If you
need to dispute something with another member, do it privately in Observer
mode (if no others are present), or better yet via email or instant messaging.
| Answer newbie questions! By all means, don't lose the game for your team because of your typing, but, when possible, answer questions as often and clearly as you can. It benefits the community, helps promote the mod/game you are playing, and makes HV look good.. |
4) Player information
